Forget Times Square and Lady Liberty – how about touring the Brooklyn Navy Yard?
The city is hoping the 300-acre industrial park, which has been off limits to the general public since opening two centuries ago, will become a tourist hotspot.
Free bus tours will be offered tomorrow and Sunday. They’ll include stops at historic buildings, including the dry dock where the Civil War ironclad USS Monitor was outfitted.
The tours will continue every Sunday starting Nov. 2 and cost $30 per person.

Thanks for the great tip. I’m X-Navy and I am always up for a Navy related tour… especially in the NY NJ area. I have tons of friends who were at one time or another stationed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
