New York Water Taxi has completed its acquisition of the downtown operation of Circle Line.
The deal gives the company an increased foothold in the New York City tour-boat industry.
It includes Circle Line Harbor Cruise’s 600-passenger vessel Zephyr, and the 149-passenger speed boat Shark. It also involves leaseholds at Pier 16, at the South Street Seaport in Lower Manhattan, and Pier C at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The newly created Harbor Experience Companies will manage products, vessels and “shore side destinations” such as Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City, Queens.
Harbor Experience said Monday it expects to open one or two other New York City shore destinations this year.
The company is based in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
